My "Top 5" List

My friend Pat just started an excellent list of the Top 100 songs of all time. It has started all this great debate and to me, represents all that a blog should be. Link

I have decided to start my own list on a different subject, which I suspect will foster just as much debate:

TOP 5 THINGS THAT ARE SAD

5. That song at the end of "Incredible Hulk"

Bruce Banner may spend a good amount of his time big, green, and angry. But he ends every episode as a sad, empty drifter/scientist.

4. Polar Bear, stranded at sea

Heard about this from someone who saw Al Gore's Eco-Movie. Apparently your SUV just melted the iceberg he was swimming toward. Sad.

3. The Oscar Mayer Weiner Song

If I were an Oscar Mayer Weiner/Everyone would be in love with me
This child has given up all hope of being loved for who she is.

2. Blogs With No Comments

Blogs in general are kind of the social circle of the introvert. So when you don't even have virtual friends, what hope is there?

I'm talking about myself here.

1. Old Clowns

An easy #1 pick.

I was going to leave a comment, but you made me too sad.

Also: birthday parties where no one shows up. Underwear on the street. And dropping your ice cream when you go to get money out of your wallet to pay for it.

Also, my word verification is sad: icrpp.

how about the fact that i actually watched "from justin to kelly" on saturday afternoon? or the fact that i just watched falcon beach and am following it up with one ocean view?

seriously though, it is sad that i so rarely get comments on my blog. i mean, i have a little ticker that says people are reading, but so few comments...sad sad sad.

Flick,

5) This is not the first time you've mentioned this Hulk song, I need to check it out. I need something to accompany the moment I burst out of my jean shorts.

4) Did a camera crew just film a polar bear stranded at sea, remark on how sad it was, and then fly off enjoying a couple of Klondike bars? Couldn't they have done something?

3) Weiners are delicious. I fear that statement may be taken out of context but I'm too tired to go back and delete it.

2) I will start leaving you comments, maybe if you posted more than bi-weekly?

1) Did you ever see "Shakes the Clown" with Bobcat Golthwait? Me neither. It's been recommended to me twice in a week, which is freaking me out. I'm putting it in the Netflix. He's got some new movie coming out about a girl who goes down on her dog and the effects it has on her relationship. Believe it or not, it's getting INCREDIBLE reviews. Why am I still talking about Bobcat Golthwait?

Lauren - Underwear on the street is number 6. Good call on that one.

Sam - I recommend adding a "Comment Challenge" at the end of every post, as I did the first few posts. As you can see, it really led to alot of comments.

Wait, no it didn't.

Pat -

The Hulk song is this slow, sad piano solo that they play as he walks down the road to his next destination. I'll try to find an MP3 for you.

Also, I would post more than twice a week if people started commenting. So you see, its a vicious cycle.

The big question with every new Golthwait project is: will he use that same squeaky voice? The premise for his new movie pretty much sells itself.

New #1: 4 losses in a row to those rotten Yankees. I'm surprised I got out of bed this morning. Ugh.
